Apparently Everyone is AWOL
So sorry to neglect you all. I’ve been busy all day and just had no time to post. My good friends Harry and Chatman are having a fundraiser tomorrow for Dreams of Hope, which is a Pittsburgh based organization that works to develop lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allied youth leaders who promote social change by educating audiences. Part of their fundraiser is having blues musician Gaye Abegbalola and Roddy Barnes play, and they also had a concert tonight. Chatman asked if I would cook for them before the show, and of course I said yes, so I was running around getting everything ready for 20 people to hit the house.
The menu was simple tonight- I made a bunch of stuffed hungarian hot peppers and stuffed poblanos, and then made salmon burgers and sweet potato fries and a couple other things. Had about 16 people, and worked out well.
The funniest part of the evening was that Rosie was just drawn like a magnet to Gaye. She was putty in her hands. At one point, she rolled over on to her back on Gaye’s lap while Gaye serenaded her- as soon as Chatman sends me the picture, I will post it. I’ve never seen Rosie behave this way.
This post will have to tide you over, because I have a kitchen to clean before everyone gets back from the concert.
Oh, btw, I’ve asked Zandar from Zandar Versus the Stupid about front page access, and you should see posts soon.

Hmm, Gaye’d best check her luggage when she leaves town, especially anything with airholes. Furry stowaway!
Gotta admit, salmon burgers and sweeet potato fries sound damn good right now.

Regardless of what anyone says, the incessant rumors that potential Texas Senatorial candidate Craig James killed 5 hookers while at SMU have not been supported as yet by direct evidence that would be admissible in a court of law. I urge everyone to google this matter as often as possible and determine the facts for themselves.

Birkenstocks and socks! I love your dad! Dinner sounds yummy. I’m having leftovers. Have shrimp, scallops and chicken in the fridge. It’s just an eat-up kind of night. Plus alloo gobi I made the other day, without the aloo. It’s yummy.

@Yutsano: We are heading up for a wedding. I booked my trip a couple weeks ago when I was booking a work trip to Atlanta for the week before the wedding. Mom finally decided she wants to come so she will have to take what she can get. She hates driving to the airport so I would pick her up if we were on the same flights (despite the fact that it would add about an hour and a half to my 30 minute trip), but there is a shuttle from a rest area about 20 minutes from her so she can manage to get there and back on her own if she has to. She also might not want to take the 7:30 am flight home that I am on. (EDIT: I also had no interest in taking early flights on the way there on Friday after arriving home from Atlanta about 1 am that morning though I did play with the idea of staying at the airport and catch a 6 am flight Friday morning)

@Raven (formerly stuckinred):
Been to a Wahoo’s Fish Taco yet? It’s mostly an Orange County chain, but they are in Manhattan Beach and Santa Monica.

Good AFL match on ESPN2: the ancient rivalry, Collingwood vs. Geelong.
And the Merseyside derby tomorrow morning (4:45 Pacific time).

Sacrilege! The AFL goal officials no longer wear those long white lab coats and matching fedoras.

@burnspbesq:
I don’t get bonuses—I’m in the union. Thank you for reminding me of a recent painful incident when we found out the whole division was getting a generous bonus … unless you were in the union. Feh.

Yes, I do. Excellent food at good prices.

@Mnemosyne:
Ouch, unless you got something good in exchange for bargaining away your right to bonuses.
