Last three days we’ve seen over a foot of rain, and it’s raining right now, still. I’d welcome some fucking sun.

I’m going to our public library to see a presentation on “Nanotechnology and the Internet”. Whoo-hoo!

    Pizza with the gang tonight.

Next week, Quatro de Mayo! Chips and Guacamole! Fajitas! Margaritas!

Playing softball. In 40 degree weather and drizzle. The day after we had just under two inches of rain. There will be much beer consumed.

Just put in my broccoli/cauliflower/ham casserole, this time with pepper jack cheese.

If it weren’t so awesomely good, all that chopping would get to me. Each time, I swear I’ll go frozen veggies & precut ham cubes… and then I don’t.

We have plans for Cinco de Mayo with friends. Looking so forward to it.

“Clever” Floridian figures out 1. how to escape and 2. how to get by with fewer traffic lanes.

Buddy inbound from Boston, whereupon we shall sip Irish Whiskey (Tullamore Dew), shoot billiards, and discuss various topics with decreasing coherence.

@jeffreyw: Are these from Tarantino’s new movie, Reservoir Slaw Dogs?

I’ve been reading about this birther shit all day and I have just gotten madder and madder, not at the crazy birthers, but at all of those people who are saying that the President seems to have “caved into the pressure” of the birthers (fuck you Cenk Unger!!).

Honestly, I can’t even really express to ya’ll how much more angry I am at people like Cenk Unger.

Apparently Justin Bieber played a show in Kuala Lumpur a week ago, and I didn’t even know about it. Yay me!

His dang 3D movie is still playing here, though. Boo.

@Phyllis: Been wanting to read that. Good?

@lamh34: You’re more angry at a media whore than a racist POS?

  16. Corner Stone - April 27, 2011 | 6:13 pm · Link

@The Golux: Man, where is your public library? That sounds killer.

@lamh34: I checked out FDL for the first time in a year today, and it has gotten really bad over there.

When republicans get angry, they criticize everything democrats do.

    Real smart.

@lamh34: Back during the campaign I thought it was stupid for Obama to put his birth certificate on his web site. At the time I thought he was just caving in to the crazy people.

As time went by, I saw that he actually made them look even crazier. Crazy enough that Fox News only wants to handle it at arm’s length.

I can understand what people like Unger may think, but I believe in six months everyone will see it as another way to subtly kick the republicans in the shins.

Not sure if this got brought up earlier, but The Supremes ruled 5-4 (how else?) that Corps. can block joint suits against them, forcing all suits to be arbitrated individually.

    Fun days.

Is something off with the comments? I tried posting 3 times and it wouldn’t work.

    @Corner Stone:

A dog is gonna bark, a cat is gonna meow, and a racist fuckin’ birther is gonna be batshit crazy, BUT when allies decide that you are appeasing the enemy by finally confronting them, then hell yeah, I’m mad.

As a Black person in American, Birther and repubs are exactly who we thought they were. I expect better of “friends and allies” than crazed racist fools!

I just got back from a month of motorcycling across the country, 8K miles in 30 days – all the way to Key West, FL from Baker City, OR. Pics and commentary it you’re interested

@BGinCHI: Oh yeah. Terrific little mystery, great characters, enough ‘typical 11 year-old girl’ stuff to keep Flavia real. Really fun, well-written books.

    @lamh34:

I’ve been reading about this birther shit all day and I have just gotten madder and madder …

In twenty to thirty years, this episode will be taught in classrooms as an example of how racism subtly persisted into to 21st C.

Not a major lesson, mind you, just a sidenote in a bigger lesson about the racism of the recent past that will undoubtedly ignore or deny whatever arbitrary tribalism continues to fester as the xenophobia du jour in that future day.

All part of our long history of incremental expansion in the franchise of equality.

@lamh34: There’s a huge swathe of political commentators who apply precisely one analytical tool. Did you stand firm? If not, you caved, and hence you lost. Cenk Uygur is as knee-jerk and by-the-numbers as any other cable fathead.

@scav: I really liked him as the new Sherlock. I’m assuming he’s playing the Doctor and not the creation? And will this be heavy on the comedy?

This is what Julianne Moore looks like as Sarah Palin, from the upcoming HBO adaptation of Game Change.
