I’m sure some of you have seen this before, but this 27 percenter’s statement of real American principles probably merits another viewing:
We believe in stopping their progress and starting deportations of all Muslims as soon as possible. Now, blacks. They only make up 13% of the population, but they make up 45% of the city, state and federal jobs. And we wonder why the government doesn’t work. And we wonder why blacks cause more crimes than all other races combined.
[…]If asking these questions and being good Americans makes the Tea Party members racists, well I guess this huckleberry is just a racist.
This little bit of nutpicking comes from Wonkette.

I suspect this guy’s in bed with Big Sportswear.
(Didn’t we already rip this guy apart a few weeks ago?)

One indicator that he is racist might be that he pulls statistics straight from his ass.
Just sayin’.

Yeah, this vid’s been making the rounds. It’s never a mistake to remind everyone about these fucktards.
jinxtigr
I don’t even want to watch this, because this guy is presumably not an Onion clip or Saturday Night Live :P
Hey, if you just go by dollar value, and count the financial sector, whites cause WAY more damage and do more crime dollar-for-dollar. Therefore, white males must be prohibited from operating banks, ever.
I am not sure if I’m joking O_O
Studly Pantload, Vibrant Trollbot for Obama
The fact that *this* is the base of the Republican party is the plain-and-simple why as to things like Boehner breaking with Congressional tradition and refusing to host a Cinco de Mayo reception.
As Daddy-O notes, you can’t impress this fact enough (well, upon reasonable people, anyhow).
jl
@Studly Pantload, Vibrant Trollbot for Obama:
I hope Boehner is consistent like Lou Dobbs, and refuses St Pats, Columbus, and Swedish-American Day too.
I guess April 25 is the new All Weird All Day News.
Did I miss the Balloon Juice post on Douthat’s new column?
No link, cause I save my NYTimes article links for the Krug, but DeLong summarizes:
New York Times FAIL Watch: In Which Ross Douthat Begs for Other People Go to Hell
Why oh why can’t we have a better press corps?
If Hell does not exist, Ross Douthat claims, God ought to create it–and put some of those other people in it for eternity:
“A Case for Hell: [T]o believe in God and not in hell is ultimately to disbelieve in the reality of human choices”

I’m not really sure how to broach this subject but unless the Tea Party’s technical support staff has serious problems with color correction and saturation, this guy would seem potentially to have some deeply weird identity issues.
I mean, really, if you’re significantly darker than the Schwegmann’s bag, can you really call yourself a white man?

There was no Holocaust, but there is a worldwide Jewish banking conspiracy and the Jews control the media. If confronting the Jewish menace makes me an anti-Semite, then I guess I’m an anti-Semite.

Can. Not. Watch. These people take my breath away. The stupidity, racism and just plain meanness makes me ill. I’m going to go out and ride, hopefully the wind will clean out my soul that these people keep trying to kill.

Consistency from a Republican? You’d have a better shot at finding a Democrat who adheres to party discipline.
Citizen Alan
Now, now. I believe we established in the thread last night that we can’t say anything bad about poor unfortunate misguided souls like this. I mean, we’ll never reach them if we say things that hurt their feelings. I’m sure if we just explain to him that nearly every “statistic” he cited was factually wrong, he’ll apologize for any offense and immediately start voting for democrats.
cathyx
Huckleberry says “I ain’t no racist. My car is too slow to race and I can’t even run 10 feet without passing out.”
Gaardian
Wow, wow. Is this guy for real? If not, he kicks Colbert’s ass in the pseudo-sincerity department. Sarah Palin as fantasy wife? Really?! It’s shocking that that remark is the least offensive thing he says. Holy cow.
Omnes Omnibus
@Citizen Alan: You know that wasn’t what was being said last night. There are unregenerate assholes in the world. This guy is one of them. There also are people who in the absence of any countervailing outreach would end up voting GOP. Some of those people do not have the most advanced view on a lot of social issues and would need to be persuaded that their lives will be better in a left of center world even if it makes them a little uncomfortable when they see two guys kiss. OTOH, have fun with your strawman.
jeff
Once again, things like this awaken in one some distrust of the Tea Party’s profession of benign indifference to race, and their statement that they care only about government waste. Also too, one might well doubt the figure he cites of the percentage of government employees who are black–not to be divisive–but out of a (perhaps) overweening concern for truth.
Small Paul
I laughed at least 6 times while viewing the video. Was that wrong?
tkogrumpy
Not only am I not going to watch that video again,(Cripes it’s been on my facebook page forever), but I’m not going to comment. I’m still recovering from 1 hour at the gateway pundit.

Consider it done, we can agree to agree that you and the Tea Party are racist.

As I’ve stated before, if the deficit were the issue that truly motivated the Tea Party, they would have been active seven years ago when the deserting coward put his entire excellent adventure in Iraq “off budget”.
The deficit is not the issue. The debt is not the issue.
A Democrat who is Near in the White House is the issue.

Boy, there are times when the world makes me want to run for the nearest beer and a good book to blot out the stupidity of my fellow humans. I’ve finally tackled Larry Niven’s Ringworld. It’s not yet helping me forget about such weapons-grade ignorance as is on display in this video. Not yet quite sure why the book has been regarded so highly for so long. He’s no Frank Herbert.
gwangung
Awaken? Some of us don’t sleep…for good reason.
I mean, not ALL Tea Partyists are like this…but how do you KNOW , without getting within arms reach? Some of us have had very good, very personal reasons not to trust a group that doesn’t disavow the more extremist parts–and yet the group as a whole doesn’t seem interested in those reasons and try to blame us for our discomfort.

Is it racist to ask why young bucks are eating T-bone steaks?
Marmot
There’s no question that there are a lot of racist Tea Partiers.
But how will we know if they’re not all racist unless they condemn this guy? Why won’t they condemn him?
That’s where to go with this.
Marmot
@Southern Beale: What the fuck? That happened in my state??
Martin
@Southern Beale: California is cracking down on family values as well. A new law is working its way through the legislature that would extend the statute of limitations on secretly videotaping sex with prostitutes.
None of our cherished national values are safe any longer.
Martin
@Marmot: Well, just the first step. No doubt the outrage over the United Negro College Fund will cause the Texas legislature to demand a Date Rape and Cow Fucking Scholarship. You know, for balance.
Thoughtful Black Co-Citizen

OT, but if you want to watch musicians creating music live, checkout partyontheinternet – with ben folds, amanda palmer, damian kulash and neil gaiman recording right now.
MikeJ
@Marmot: As the resident of a state that is most famous for horse fucking, I can say that nobody outside of Texas is as surprised as you.
@Martin: That’s a good law. If you want to videotape women having sex, hire somebody to do that. Taping a sex worker without her knowledge is stealing income from her.
Mako
Thanks for highlighting Grady Warren. Much like Andrew Sullivan, he must be addressed because he is on the internet.
I’m curious, do you, Mistermix, have a plan for the future?
That would be way more interesting to me than whatever some random florida youtube mud says.
junebug
From a different thread, but same flavor:
Racists need to be pointed out and mocked as often as possible. I for one am not going to “accept that as settled.” If you are a racist, you don’t get a seat at the grown up table. Period.
Josh
Frank, I remember having enjoyed some of Niven’s fiction as a kid, notwithstanding his inability to write a paragraph and the amount of suspension-of-disbelief required to buy some of the situations he created. (Carl Sagan: “In Larry Niven’s ‘Neutron Star’ the plot hinges on the astonishing tidal forces exerted by a strong gravitational field. But we are asked to believe that hundreds or thousands of years from now, at a time of casual interstellar space-flight, such tidal forces have been forgotten. We are asked to believe that the first probe of a neutron star is done by a manned rather than by an unmanned spacecraft. We are asked too much.”). That said, I wouldn’t be able to read Niven to escape thinking about wingnuttery, given that he seems to have been something of a right-wing xenophobe for the past thirty years or so, and IIRC an anti-environmentalist more recently.
Marmot
@MikeJ: Dude, I don’t care what kind of porn you’re into — just realize that not everyone shares your peculiarity, mkay?
jeff
@gwangung:
I am being absurdly circumspect about this because of a private family matter….but I am still being absurdly circumspect.
Marmot
@Martin: Damn. Seriously, the Repub wave really washed up a bunch of vindictive pricks on Texas this time.
Martin
@MikeJ: Actually we’ve always had the law. They’re just extending the statute of limitations because one of our local MoTU nearly got away with it. Instead he gets to spend a year in prison. He tried for house arrest, but given the nature of the crime that seemed more like a reward than a punishment.
Mako
@jeff:
You’ll let us know when the Ryder truck is packed. eh?
MikeJ
@Marmot: Wait, was that for the first or second half of my comment? If the first I’ll have you know that horse fucking is now illegal in Washington, mainly because the lege didn’t like out of staters calling them horse fuckers.
However, nobody is surprised about Texas.
Marmot
@MikeJ: I think I misunderstood at first–you’re saying that since you’re from a state famous for horse fucking, nobody is as surprised as I am about the Texas lege pushing “family values” into universities?
What would they teach, anyway? How not to discuss the contradiction between man’s free will and having an omniscient god?
trollhattan
Performance art to be in awe of. What was that about Sarah(tm) being millions of men’s fantasy wife? I’m not watching it again for just that nugget.

I don’t think this guy is for real, he is just looking for a way to hawk more t-shirts. He used to sell t-shirts raising money for a for-profit charity that helped combat the non-existent threat of kittens being used as shark bait.
http://greenupgrader.com/5760/kittens-used-as-bait-to-scam-animal-lovers/
Basically this guy is no different from Trump – scamming tea partiers as hard as possible by pushing all their buttons.
Mark D
@junebug: Wow … I don’t know what’s more pathetic: the member of the GOP base who is so proud of his racism that he posts a video about it to YouTube, or some BJ commenter who believes that “the idea that I can ‘stop being racist,’ … is woefully naive.”
Memo to Teatardaloon: The fact you found (as one Wonkette commenter put it) a female Reagan to fap to (so they’re now not gay!!) doesn’t make you a racist. The fact you’re a racist makes you a racist.
Memo to Guster: You’re no better than the Teatardaloon. After all, all you need to do to stop being racist is to … stop being racist! Put aside your issues with The Others and realize there are only two kinds of people: assholes, and not assholes. So stop being the former.
Ya know, the clinically fucking stupidity is getting the point where, if there is a God, an asteroid is inevitable. Preferable, in fact …

@Korea Beat:
This story is getting to be something out of Philip K. Dick meets Monty Python.

Meet Grady Warren, America’s #1 Latino Racist

Phoenician in a time of Romans
“We’re tired of the blacks, nigras, and hispanics – especially the illegals – calling us racist…”
Nah, I can’t think of anything to add to that quote. My powers of sarcasm have failed me.
celticdragonchick
@Frank W.:
I tackled Niven’s The Ringworld Engineers some time back, and I didn’t care for any more. I tend to go more for Anne McCaffrey and the Dragonriders of Pern.
celticdragonchick
@Phoenician in a time of Romans:
Yep. I posted about this idiot at LGF Pages last week. There was nothing to add except a warning about the content.
celticdragonchick
@jl:
Wasn’t that a movie called “Brazil”?
AAA Bonds
@Mark D:
You would have to give your definition of racism and have this BJ poster give his and then argue about it.
If you think that term isn’t in dispute, heaven help you. It’s not necessary to extend its definition to exclude examples like the video above, but certainly, different definitions draw different conclusions about the difficulty of “stopping being racist”.
Without giving any support to the poster you mention, I think it’s harder than you describe.
Petorado
I’ve noticed that there’s a direct correlation between people who profess that their race is the most supreme with their being the least supreme members of said race. It reminds me of sports fans who are the least athletically capable people being the folks who love to complain about which highly trained athlete sucks the most. Project much?
Frank W.
Josh #46 — You’re right: Niven is no escape from wing-nuttery (that’s where the beer comes in!). Thanks for the Sagan quote; damn, I miss his existence in this world!
Celticdragonchick #60 — Thank you for the reading tip! I don’t think I’ve read any McCaffrey yet, but we have plenty on the shelves here. I’m only 70+ pages into Ringworld — it does strike me already as rather misogynistic. Only male kintz are sentient… Teela Brown is frequently depicted as an intellectually uncurious… nympho. That Niven is pretty rightwing (evidently) does not surprise.
Paul in KY
@celticdragonchick: I think ‘Brazil’ was more Aldous Huxley meets Monty Python.
Have liked Niven’s books generally. Enjoyed ‘Ringworld’. He’s no Ursula K. LeGuinn though.
Paul in KY
@Frank W.: Teela Brown is a very spoiled young woman who happens to be supremely lucky. She has certainly lived a charmed life up to her marooning on Ringworld.
You will find out more about how & why female Kzinti are especially stupid.
celticdragonchick
@Paul in KY:
True. I read a lot of the Man/Kzin Wars.
Some of the novellas in the series by various authors are pretty good.
Paul in KY
@celticdragonchick: I’ve read them too. Enjoyed them. As far as Niven, I wish he’d explored The Slavers more, found a few more of them to use as protagonists, etc.
I guess having them all killed off 2 billion years ago is a plot twist that makes it hard to do the above.
