Outdoor wedding in February!

Red and White ribbons.

Packing my bags and going to Paris for a week. By the time I get back, I expect…well, things to be almost the same as they are now.
Violet
I’m working hard in the garden. Fruit trees that I planted in January are in bloom, putting in tomatoes this weekend, thinking about green beans too. Can’t believe spring is here.
Violet
@stuckinred: Depending where you live, that can be a great time of year for an outdoor wedding.
@Suffern ACE: Paris! I really love Paris. Business trip or for fun?
stuckinred
@Violet: Sposed to be 70 here in Georgia. Buncha stuff is blooming and the peach farmers are worried as hell.
pragmatism
day trip to tijuana to volunteer and buy meds for my non or underinsured family and friends. plus street tacos and grilled green onions.

Reading this book: Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet. It’s been really good so far. Has anyone else read it?

The temps aren’t going to crack 20 this weekend. I guess I’ll stay inside and watch Gaddafi get executed by an angry mob.
That cartoon would be a lot more amusing but for the fact that way too many working Americans voted for these sociopathic human/swine hybrids.
Mike Kay (Peacemaker)
@Cris: yeah, we went through that last night

the consensus: stay the fuck out.
Violet
@Cris:
Did you miss E.D. Kain’s post on that quote last night?
Phyllis
Sticking close to home to enjoy the spring-y weather in these parts. Brought some work home with me, and plan to bring it into the house from the car before the weekend’s out.
Violet
@stuckinred:
Are they worried because the peaches are blooming too early? We had a cold winter and then poof it was spring and it seems it arrived too early. Weird weather.
Cris
@Mike Kay (Peacemaker): yeah I see that ED Kain went there already.
@Violet: I miss most of Kain’s posts. Nothing personal, though.
Chat Noir
@beltane:
Spot on. My dad is a GM retiree yet he continues to support these Republican sociopaths even though they wanted to let his company die. It really does boggle the mind.

The joys of astroturfing. Birds do it, bees do it, even the frakking Air Force does it. I always though BOB was too loopy to be a program, now I’m not so sure.

@Violet:
It ain’t.
This weekend I’ll have to dig out from the blizzard that hit in the early morning hours.
Wind blew the door open at 5:45 a.m.. The noise woke me up [with a whoomp!] and I got up to see if the furnace had blown up and if the house was on fire. No. Front door open, snow blowing in. Four cats sitting just outside of the snowfall saying, “Wow. Look at that!” Got door closed with a chair in front of it in case a big wind came by again. Then I counted noses and Tulip, the dog was missing. I went outside to open the gate to the back yard so she could get to her usual entry port. Had to wade through snow up to here to get to the gate, had to dig the gate out in order to open it. By that time, of course, I was wide awake.
Tulip was brought home by a nice fellow from the animal control department. Apparently, somebody knew her and where she lived. He was a nice fellow. She was out there in the storm for five hours. I don’t know what kind of protection she found. Her ears were cold for two hours after we got her inside and the top of her head didn’t dry for another hour. Cold baby.
Spring? Bah, humbug!
[Although a garden does sound cheerful.:-)]
Mike Kay (Peacemaker)
@Cris: I wonder why Michael Moore has drove over to Madison from his michigan home? Guess he’s worse than obama!
Ian
You guys are making me all feel so good that my American visa was finally approved yesterday. Will be anything left by the time I get there? (hopefully, as I intend to campaign for Obama next year ;))
Cris
@Mike Kay (Peacemaker): stop hating me, I just pasted before i searched
SteveinSC
@Mike Kay (Peacemaker): Ever heard of a surrogate or two? Jesus what fucking morons. Anything to cover for the empty suit in the WH.
Cris
@Mike Kay (Peacemaker): wait, what

Making “Walker/Spitzer” stickers…
Mike Kay (Peacemaker)
@SteveinSC: ah, you’re the racist who was banned a couple of days ago. dude, hurry up and put on your sheets, Glenn Beck is coming on tee vee.
Mike Kay (Peacemaker)
@Cris: should read: “I wonder why Michael Moore hasn’t…”
Violet
@Linda Featheringill:
Wow, that sounds cold. Brrr… Glad your animals were okay.
My garden is brown from all the freezing weather we had in January. But the tulips are blooming and are gorgeous. I should go take a photo of them. Really lovely.
Cris
@Mike Kay (Peacemaker): damned broken Edit feature
SteveinSC
@Mike Kay (Peacemaker): Yeah, but John Cole knows the truth and the truth has set me free.

Just in case you missed it from earlier Open/Rally Threads, I’m organizing a group for the DC rally tomorrow.
Email me at whydirt at yahoo if you’d like to meet some real live (for certain levels of real and alive) BJers.

I just waded through a few pages of comments @ HuffPo onthis topic. I don’t recommend it as a hobby. “WAAH!!! They make more than I do. I’m a taxpayer. Fire ’em all and hire someone else for as much money as I’m willing to pay. Teachers and cops don’t do nothin. How dare you play omn our emotions by showing upa picture of EMTs. Everybody knows gubmint workers don’t do shit.” Did I do good enuf, massuh? Don’t beat me no more, massuh.

Today is my John’s 64th birthday. Not doing anything big tonight, just dinner (probably at the local Applebee’s, maybe Bobo will be there!) and some drinks at the VFW with his friends. Tomorrow I will making my famous shrimp and crab boil (baby red potatoes, pearl onions, corn, lemons, crab, and shrimp…yum!) and I have two bottles of Riesling and a bottle of Proseco for imbibing.
In other news, I have put my notice in with my landlord. I’m out as of May 1.

Running 7.5 miles tomorrow morning. Complaining about being in pain from the knees down for the rest of the weekend. And putting away some Jameson while it’s still winter. I’m hankerin’ for vodka season.
Cris
@geg6: So it seems that you’ll still feed him. Do you still need him?

@Linda Featheringill: Glad to hear Tulip came home. Hang in there.

30 km run, then taking the toddler to someone’s (mercifully short) birthday party, then having a Skype summit with my brother, who needs to vent about his long-term girlfriend. I’m trying to come up with a polite way to say “just pack your shit and get out of there, already.”
Comrade Mary
I’m on deadline and stressing out, so its been fast and easy food all day: that is, fried colcannon and a couple of eggs on top. Four times today so far. I’ve been eating some bananas to balance out the forces, but odds are my body cannae take the strain.
If the house explodes, I’m not sure whether my homeowner insurance will cover the damages. Pray for me.

Getting rid of someone is always good if the relationship is bad.
You are patient.

Here is a picture of my Tulip. Now you’ll have to show me a picture of your tulips. :-)
Linda Featheringill
@Another Commenter at Balloon Juice (fka Bella Q):
Thanks.
R-Jud
@Maude: It’s definitely the relationship and not the woman. She’s smart and driven and cute, and so is he, but they just don’t click anymore. They haven’t, for years. I love the guy to bits and I hate to see him lingering, because he’s afraid of hurting her. They’re both miserable and bored and just need to move on.
Ruckus
@R-Jud:
Those can be the hardest to end. You’re unhappy but not end of the world fucking miserable so you keep going on hoping it will get better. It rarely does but hope springs eternal or some crap like that.
R-Jud
@Ruckus: Yeah. I just hope he doesn’t get it into his head that she deserves a promotion for time served.
General Stuck
@SteveinSC:
The truth of proxy servers maybe.
Ruckus
@R-Jud:
Laughing so hard I can’t think of a catchy comeback.
Ruckus
@R-Jud:
And I scared the dog who is now freaked out.
Comrade Kevin
I am at the Southern California Linux Expo this weekend, mainly because, in exchange for driving a friend down and helping out as a member of the “staff”, I got free hotel and registration.
