Brotherhood from another planet

By DougJ, Head of Infidelity February 22nd, 2011

I had assumed this was a satiric photoshop, but it’s actually on Rush Limbaugh’s website.

Remember, if some some teatard tries to blow up a school next week, it will be a big coincidence.

    The crossed pencils complete with teeth marks are a nice touch, I have to admit.

  2. 2 freelancer Says:

    Education, as a pernicious slur.

    These people are pure Python.

  3. 3 Moonbatting Average Says:

    Poe’s Law confirmed yet again!

    Michelle Obama is fat, also.

  4. 4 Zifnab Says:

    They realize they’re comparing little old blue-haired grandmothers and pot bellied truck driving Real Merikan blue collar folk to sandy, goat-loving, a-rabs right?

  5. 5 Davis X. Machina Says:

    Come the Revolution, that mo-fo is going to spend some hard time diagramming sentences, and doing some severe proofs.

    Up against the chalkboard, kulaks.

  6. 6 Pooh Says:

    We don’t want the people who educate our children to have what are considered good jobs, because we need to make the future safe for our children!

  7. 7 The Moar You Know Says:

    “brotherhood”

    Dog whistle blew my eardrums out.

  8. 8 Bulworth Says:

    I won’t go to the talk show host’s website, but I wonder about the usage of the term “reload” in the upper right hand corner. Palin infamously said something about “reloading” in regards to HCR.

  9. 9 jl Says:

    @Davis X. Machina: Hard labor doing long division, until they drop.

  10. 10 Ugh Says:

    Has there ever been a demographic study of Rush’s listeners? Is it really just old white people and college republican douchebags?

  11. 11 Michael Says:

    @Ugh:

    The crossed pencils complete with teeth marks are a nice touch, I have to admit.

    They look like every pencil I gnawed from 3rd grade on up. I wouldn’t get rid of them until they were down to about 2 inches.

  12. 12 freelancer Says:

    @Davis X. Machina:

    Up against the chalkboard, kulaks.

    Sixty muzzled wingers to a classroom, and they have to watch archived episodes of The Ed Show.

  13. 13 martha Says:

    Um, education sure scares Limbaugh and his crowd. Educated people tend to know they’re full of poop.

    And is it my imagination, or is he trying to keep up with Beck on the insanity meter? Methinks he hasn’t stepped back, taken a deep breath, and thought about how all this really sounds for a while. Which makes me happy. Very happy.

  14. 14 Martin Says:

    Damn, that’s even better than our United Pastry Jihad.

  15. 15 Warren Terra Says:

    OK, this is off topic, and this isn’t an open thread, and as I (slowly) write this comment we’re only seven comments in; awfully early for a threadjack. I don’t care, I stand justified. Justified by what Yglesias plausibly asserts is The Greatest Memo Of All Time, written by one Donald H Rumsfeld on April 7, 2003. That damn thing has to be seen to be believed. The Onion’s writers couldn’t have improved it. I won’t even bother to summarize its contents, but it was addressed to Doug Feith.

  16. 16 Ash Can Says:

    Is there anyone or anything of any value or virtue whatsoever that hasn’t been on Limbaugh’s hit list?

  17. 17 slag Says:

    Come the Revolution, that mo-fo is going to spend some hard time diagramming sentences, and doing some severe proofs.

    Veni, vidi, erudi.

  18. 18 YellowJournalism Says:

    Holy shit. Did someone recently beat him over the head with a VHS copy of Up the Down Staircase?

  19. 19 Bulworth Says:

    And no patriotic teabaggers anywhere, ever, have linked Obama to Hitler or Stalin.

    Also, too, those chewed pencils sure are mighty fierce.

  20. 20 BGinCHI Says:

    @Warren Terra: I saw that. I had to read it three times.

    My summary of what Rumsfeld wrote: there is a lot of shit going on that I don’t understand/can’t control. Please write back and advise me how to use invasion to clarify.

  21. 21 Southern Beale Says:

    Mitch Daniels tells the legislature to drop the “right to work” bill.

    Methinks someone saw his presidential aspirations disappear like a fart in the breeze.

  22. 22 Chet Says:

    This is why a lot of us had a hard time laughing at that New Yorker cover.

  23. 23 Davis X. Machina Says:

    @slag: Rectē dictum, collega optime (sive optima).

  24. 24 jrg Says:

    I love the rant that accompanies the graphic on Sully’s site.

    If teachers care about children, how come they aren’t working for free? Nice concern trolling about government shut down, too… Like that fat shitbag wouldn’t be dancing a jig if the GOP shut down the government over the debt ceiling tomorrow.

    Naturally, the morons who listen to him wouldn’t even notice.

  25. 25 A Commenter at Balloon Juice (formerlyThe Grand Panjandrum) Says:

    Rush is living proof that America is a place where people do get an 87th chance. Drugs, divorce, hookers, and lies … Jacqueline Susann couldn’t make up his life story.

  26. 26 BGinCHI Says:

    Turned on Andrea Mitchell today while eating lunch, and she was interviewing Donald Fucking Rumsfeld. Underneath it said “Rumsfeld Defends Iraq Invasion.”

    I flipped it straight to an FA Cup match on the dvr.

    Honestly, if you have to interview Rumsfeld, you’ve already lost the battle. What part of “he’s a fucking bully and a liar” doesn’t the MSM understand?

    Fuck you Andrea Mitchell and all “reporters” who suck. I hope there’s a special place in the afterworld, with fire and pain, for these people.

  27. 27 Xecky Gilchrist Says:

    @Bulworth: I was wondering about that too. Maybe someone was riffing on it at the protests, or maybe the cons just realized it was unpopular so now it’s been a liberal thing all along and was never said by Palin because shut up, that’s why.

  28. 28 Martin Says:

    @Warren Terra: Summary:

    To: Doug Feith
    From: Donald Rumsfeld
    Subject: Issues w/Various Countries

    The world is broken. Please fix it.

    Thanks.

  29. 29 Cris Says:

    Rush:

    They are robbing inner-city kids of precious schooldays that would help make America more competitive…

    So precious. You know, Rush is so concerned about inner-city children.

  30. 30 BGinCHI Says:

    @Davis X. Machina:

    Rectē dictum

    Oh, that sounds naughty.

  31. 31 Legalize Says:

    Mitch just got all squishy after seeing the writing on the wall.

  32. 32 Southern Beale Says:

    @Cris:

    They are robbing inner-city kids of precious schooldays that would help make America more competitive…

    I’m trying to wrap my head around this. Is this code? What’s with the “inner city” thing? Are the only teachers on strike ones who work in inner city schools? What, no suburban kids lost out on precious school days? What, do all the white kids go to private schools?

  33. 33 Martin Says:

    @Ugh: Just old white people. The mean age of his audience is 67. Amazingly, he even beats Fox News’s beyond-belief average age of 65.

    This really is a war between the Medicare set and the rest of the country.

  34. 34 dmsilev Says:

    @Warren Terra: I read that. The scary thing is that Feith’s response was probably even worse.

    dms

  35. 35 freelancer Says:

    @Warren Terra:

    Fucking Countries, how do they work?

  36. 36 Davis X. Machina Says:

    @jrg:

    If teachers care about children, how come they aren’t working for free?

    In the past, in pre-capitalist societies that didn’t measure what you are by how much they own, that was often the case. So much for progress.

    I saw A.M.D.G a lot, where I used to go to school, and it wasn’t all a cynical farce, either, though that is the default progressive position.

  37. 37 Morbo Says:

    @The Moar You Know: May… maybe it’s a reference to Full Metal Alchemist?

  38. 38 Dirk Gently Says:

    Can I just take a moment to praise DougJ for, once again, coming up with a title to the post that is brilliant beyond compare?

    Also, I dunno but there is a certain kind of desperation/flopsweat in the OTT-ness of that logo. I think, at best, people don’t like teachers’ unions because they are seen to be protecting the few bad teachers around, among other reforms. Since when is it quick work to imply they’re Black Panthers backed by Obama?

  39. 39 Bulworth Says:

    @Moonbatting Average: Are we anywhere near hitting Peak Wingnut yet?

  40. 40 KG Says:

    @A Commenter at Balloon Juice (formerlyThe Grand Panjandrum): Jacqueline Susann no, but David E. Kelly? He probably could.

  41. 41 jl Says:

    I read someplace that the vast majority of the FOX news Limbaugh demographic is elderly. If the teabag brigade in my family is any guide, that is one 100 per cent true.

    It is a race against time. Soon, perhaps they can be shut down for elder abuse.

    How long can it last? There is a probably apocryphal story that Roller Derby died as a sport because marketers found that the vast majority of its TV audience were mentally retarded and the sport lost its ad revenue.

    One can only hope.

  42. 42 MikeJ Says:

    @Ugh:

    Has there ever been a demographic study of Rush’s listeners?

    Four times a year (and more often in major markets) Arbitron does it. They always do ratings by demo.

  43. 43 jrg Says:

    @Davis X. Machina:

    In the past, in pre-capitalist societies that didn’t measure what you are by how much they own, that was often the case. So much for progress.

    Somehow, I don’t think this is what he has in mind.

    I think his head is so far up his ass, he has no idea that teachers have bills to pay.

  44. 44 Cris Says:

    @Southern Beale: Is this code?

    Limbaugh is bilingual. He can speak both coded dogwhistles and explicit hatred.

  45. 45 Martin Says:

    @Dirk Gently: I agree. Sadly, the market for headline writers is miniscule, and DougJs would really only work at Rolling Stone anyway.

  46. 46 efgoldman Says:

    @A Commenter at Balloon Juice (formerlyThe Grand Panjandrum):

    Jacqueline Susann couldn’t make up his life story.

    Well, if Jacqui did write it, Rush would look a lot more like Fabio and a lot less like me.

    Was Valley of the Dolls the Greatest American Trash Novel ever? I think maybe so.

  47. 47 Dennis SGMM Says:

    @BGinCHI:
    So Mrs. Alan Greenspan was interviewing Rumsfeld. I’m certain that she was suitably harsh on him. Why the fuck is that woman allowed to masquerade as a reporter?

  48. 48 Warren Terra Says:

    @Cris:

    Limbaugh is bilingual. He can speak both coded dogwhistles and explicit hatred.

    Alternately, he’s monolingual, but his explicit-racism-to-dogwhistle translating device is on the fritz; sometimes it kicks in, sometimes it doesn’t.

  49. 49 Davis X. Machina Says:

    @jrg: Come the Revolution, under the rule of the Brotherhood, we will have people pay them for us, and more, unbidden, out of gratitude, and not from compulsion, out of the love of learning, and the love of the lovers of learning.

    And no child will need to use a chewed-on pencil.

  50. 50 gnomedad Says:

    I’ve been fuming about Rushbo today because I was reminded of him by this article: ‘God particle’ may not exist if no evidence found before 2013. A few months back, Rush was conflating the “God particle” (physicists’ whimsical nickname for the Higgs boson) with the idea that physicists were trying to “prove the existence of God” (impious fools!). There are few things that make me angrier than willfully ignorant ridicule, and Rush is the master. All serious pursuit of objective knowledge is to be despised, because it gets in the way of Just Making Shit Up.

  51. 51 freelancer Says:

    Brad Reed at Crooks and Liars has a nice roundup of some right-wing hate on teachers (with a picture of the most punchable man of the day). I swear, this idiot jihad on teachers and education has my blood boiling. If I ever meet McMegan in the street, she will get spat upon.

    “How dare you bust your ass for fifty thousand a year when there are people getting by on forty thousand?! You need to relinquish some of that sweet gig you got going,” says the monumentally pig-ignorant dickhead living in Manhattan on what has to be a six-figure income at the very least.

    I hate these people.

  52. 52 Ivan Ivanovich Renko Says:

    @A Commenter at Balloon Juice (formerlyThe Grand Panjandrum):

    Rush is living proof that America is a place where people white men do get an 87th chance.

    Yeah, you can believe he’s gonna ride this white thing as far as it can take him.

  53. 53 MikeJ Says:

    @gnomedad: Since the tevatron is losing funding and will shut down in September, perhaps we could convince people it could prove that there is a god and jeebus really had blond hair and blue eyes.

    @Martin:

    This really is a war between the Medicare set and the rest of the country.

    Yes, the Medicare set is also the defined benefit pension plan set and the GI Bill set, and so on and so on. They got all the benefits of government spending and are know fucking over the rest of us.

  56. 56 Cris Says:

    @freelancer: jesus, the nuggets of poop that Reed dug up are making my head go splodey.

  57. 57 chopper Says:

    i love how the background is some nasty signs from the rallies, as if to say ‘look, these people are assholes who use nasty political comparisons!’, yet the book in the foreground uses the phrase ‘the obama regime’.

  58. 58 gnomedad Says:

    @Ivan Ivanovich Renko:

    Yeah, you can believe he’s gonna ride this white thing as far as it can take him.

    He knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s just willfully morally bankrupt. He’s as evil as a human can be without committing murder.

  60. 60 SpotWeld Says:

    So… public school teachers are now those “elites” that are to be feared?

    What?!

  61. 61 fuckwit Says:

    @Moonbatting Average: Yeah, but Al Gore is fatter. And Michael Moore, also, too.

  62. 62 MikeJ Says:

    @SpotWeld: Anywun who kin speel is leet.

  63. 63 Davis X. Machina Says:

    @SpotWeld:

    Children may otherwise never run across another adult who tries to show that you’re not necessarily what you make, own, or earn, or one who has the temerity to say ‘no’ or ‘that’s not right’ from time to time.

    How does Rush, do you suppose, feel about that demographic? Of course, teachers have to go.

  64. 64 licensed to kill time Says:

    I saw on MediaMatters the other day that Limbaugh was bloviating about the fact that he never finished college (dropped out after 2 semesters) and thus was never brainwashed with ‘liberal elitism’. I think he believes that since he was successful (his definition of success=pots of money regardless of what you have to do to get it) w/o education that proves no one else needs it, either.

    I also think he has a massive insecurity complex with respect to education which he covers up with disdain for it.

  65. 65 BGinCHI Says:

    @Dennis SGMM: The only answer I can think of is really, really insulting.

  66. 66 Linda Featheringill Says:

    @Martin:

    This really is a war between the Medicare set and the rest of the country.

    There is and I haven’t figured out why. I am part of the Medicare set [hooray!] and I don’t hate everybody. There are some other commenters on BJ that are that age and they don’t seem to be bitter. But why oh why do so many older folks hate everybody else?

  67. 67 efgoldman Says:

    @Linda Featheringill:

    Me. I turned 65 last June.

    Of course, my company shitcanned my defined benefit pension, and I have to work at least another five years because of the hit my 401k took in 2008 and 2009, but hey I never wanted to travel or have any leisure time anyway.

    Besides,if I did retire my wife would realize how truly wonderful I am, and she’d commit either murder, or suicide, or both.

    ETA: And I don’t hate everybody, just Rush and Sarah and the GOBP and…

  68. 68 Ash Can Says:

    @Moonbatting Average:

    Michelle Obama is fat, also.

    OMFG. I thought you were snarking about this. I can’t believe he even wanted to go there.

  69. 69 Xecky Gilchrist Says:

    @Linda Featheringill: But why oh why do so many older folks hate everybody else?

    It is tragic, and here in my middle age I’m thinking hard about what I have to do to not be like that myself in 20 years’ time.

    I imagine the difference between angry seniors and the nicer ones might have something to do with bitterness over missed opportunities in the past, real or perceived. When I find myself grieving over some facet of my long-past youth, I try to realize I can either let it go or get uselessly pissed about it. I don’t always manage to let them go, but I think I have a better attitude about it all than I might just because I realize I have the choice.

    I think that resentment politics are designed to push buttons like that, holding out some unspoken hope not exactly that you could have your youth back, but that you could blame whatever you feel like you missed on somebody else.

  70. 70 jamie Says:

    Google “Andrew Kehoe” sometime.

  71. 71 WereBear Says:

    I think Rush has a massive insecurity complex. Full stop.

    Without the money, he’d have no friends, no women, and no drugs. He’d be wearing a muumuu, working in a convenience store, and taking home his paycheck in leftover pizzas and gone-over burritos. He’d be living in an apartment with plastic paneling, trying to ignore his neighbor’s tormented-to-insanity pit bulls who bark incessantly while he hopes there’s change still in the broken-backed couch he found on the street.

    And he knows it.

  72. 72 Nellcote Says:

    “Brother From Another Planet” is a great, funny movie. Everyone should see it.

  73. 73 Older Says:

    @Martin: Hey, I resent that! I am getting Medicare! and my favorite list’nin’ lately has been “Plenty Tough and Union Made”. I used to wear Ben Davis jeans, until I bought a pair that was made of polyester fuzz. Well, they’re gone, like most of the good old stuff. But Wisconsin gives me hope.

  74. 74 Jebediah Says:

    @Cris:
    So why aren’t there hordes of people knocking down schools’ doors to get teaching jobs?
    It particularly irks me when asshats start bitching about how sweet teachers or nurses or whoever has it, when they know (or damn well should)they wouldn’t and couldn’t do those jobs. I get particularly uppity when they do that about teaching. I did it for a couple of years, and no-one within earshot of me gets away with yapping about the short hours/tons of free time etc. enjoyed by teachers. Plenty of teachers work from 7 am till they go to bed at night, and on weekends too. Fuck these ignorant spiteful retards.
