Where is Tunch? Did Rosie eat him?

Ah. The little angel. Thank you for posting this and I hope that you took the time to read the latest rescue story. There’s always hope and love when it comes to mutts.
It’s probably my imagination but it seems like the pups know when there is fowl weather afoot and burrow even deeper. My lil cocker has been having a hard time on the ice and she does not want to got out at all.
Get a good shot of Rosie being bad and Lily looking worried…
Or of Tunch swatting Lily and Lily jumping…

@stuckinred: I’ve been acting like a cheerleader. Praising for every step my mutt takes. Moxie is only 18 lbs and has long skinny legs and she spread eagle several times on the ice. I shoveled paths for her today but I fear with overnight temps in the teens they will be of little use in the morning. Good luck with your cocker.
John, Tim, everyone: all Balloon Juicers who might find themselves in the Bay Area, particularly Oakland/Berkeley, or who wish to be, are invited to this gathering, also announced here (and on Facebook.)

The snow situation is interesting this year. It looks like everyone else in the country is getting more snow than here in ordinarily very snowy northern Vermont (not that I’m complaining). The guys with their snow machines are hating it, which fills my husband with schadenfreude.

Rosie looks so sweet and innocent. Being a JRT though, I know this is just a temporary thing. My soon-to-be-puppy is frolicking in the snow at mom’s, having a blast. My current dog, when it snowed here a couple years ago, took a few steps into it and then ran for the porch.
@stuckinred: Terrier mix. Her legs are similar to an Italian Greyhound. I finally got a semi decent picture so I’m going to write a story about her and submit it. She is terrified of cameras.

Except I thought it was going to be a pic of Tunch in the Sno (which would require neither Tunch nor Sno, but just some white space inside a frame).
But, thanks, If Rosie can calm down, then dammitall, so can I.

Rosie looks so pathetic. They’re so cute when they do that.
I shared this on the other thread, too, but my kittehs are cute. Scout, the black kitty on the left, is about six years old, and having this new kitteh in the house (rescued from my mother’s roof) is absolutely thrilling her. They’re best homies.

@WaterGirl: Good question. What’s in the yellow blankee? Another blogger ethics scandal brewing? I hope not.
@JPL: Same here, no mail. I went out a couple of times and with the front wheel drive Town and Country I was fine. They say that the wind is going to help evaporate stuff even though it’s going to be colder than a well diggers ass in manchuria.

Another thing I learned today:
It’s refreshing and productive to have the Obots and firebaggers here pulling shoulder to shoulder against the glibertarian and the “both sides do it” fucktards. See? That’s how to do it. Also, too.
Having grown up in Pensacola in the 80s and early 90s, I might like to see quite a few more “targets” on that scary map. Christmas morning in the early 80s was marked by explosions from right-wing terrorists; then, a decade later, I learned again that people who disagree with you will shoot and kill you after Paul Hill and Michael Griffin–one of whom I knew–killed political opponents.
Terrorism was a fact of life growing up where I did, although it didn’t make us terrified all the time….still, it’s amazing how few know about the bombings.
Here’s a link that describes the earlier incidents, since I think most know about the later ones:
I think I was about 12 years old. One of the terrorists had a pet monkey that I got to meet.

The link did not work, so I’ll try it manually, in case anyone wanted to see this People magazine article about the bombings…I think we’ve collectively forgotten about earlier rightwing terrorism:
Well, for a few minutes there back in the mists of time of earlier today, I believed that Obots and BTD, Oscar Leroy et al could all live together in common purpose against glibertarians, right wing fucktards, and “both sides do it” media whores. Oh well. Obama had to give a speech sometime.

I love snow too, Cole.
To me there is nothing more magical than snow falling from the heavens, especially at night.
As we are set to get ten – eighteen inches here in Boston beginning early tomorrow morning, I should be in heaven the next few days.
And it’s always fun listening to all the talking heads on the tube whine about it, when you know they luv that it is snowing so they can melodramatically whine about it. :D

I love snow while it’s falling, and for a day, maybe two, afterward. When the snow hangs around longer than that, it wears out its welcome.
They predicted snow would fall in Seattle tonight. So far, not so much as a flake to be seen. But Metro, thoroughly freaked out by how unprepared it was for the last snowstorm, put chains on all the buses anyway. You know what happens when you ride on a bus when the bus has chains but there’s no snow? The chain rattle and pop against the underside of the bus. Loudly. Very loudly.
Has anyone besides me noticed that, unless it’s also windy, the ambient air temp is, or at least feels like it is, warmer while snow is falling? And colder once the snow stops falling and is just sitting there? I wonder why that is.
49.
CaseyL
My comment’s in moderation? WTF?
I swear there’s not a single controversial word, not even a syllable, in my comment. Dammit.
Well, late to the threads, as usual, as evidenced by the one-hour gap between CaseyL’s comment and my explanation.
Feeling pretty good. Relatively short shift tonight, and when I came out of the store there was about two inches of new powder on the ground. Surprising, because every time the weatherman has predicted snow the last week or so he has been wrong.
@Elizabelle: Wow. That’s amazing stuff. Perspective: I don’t have it.
@Steeplejack: Aw, kitteh. Want to see. Tomorrow. Night.

@CaseyL: Snowfall means cloud cover, which means insulation. Warm air (warm, relatively) is prevented from escaping by the cloud cover. A clear winter night is a COLD winter night.

Hi asiangrrl:
Caught only the very first minutes of a Frontline on Haiti earthquake.
Prisoners soon to escape describing it, along the lines of “heard this rumble and then the miracle happened” and another “God heard our prayers.”
So perspective would seem to be everything.
I presume they are no longer escaped prisoners, since they were filmed, but …
Steeplejack
@asiangrrlMN:
Yes, you’re mopey. Seems like everyone is getting snow except the places that are supposed to get it, i.e., MN, VT, etc.
My friends in Atlanta are snowed in. Need to get off my ass and post the picture of the (black!) feral kitty they have taken in.
Think I’m out. No energy for night-owl syndrome tonight. Mañana.
