Cheddarbomb
By John Cole September 15th, 2010
Al Franken just emailed me and told me to go support Russ Feingold’s re-election efforts. I’ll be giving through ActBlue exclusively this year, but for those of you who are interested in donating someway other than ActBlue, you can give to Russ here.
Posted in The Al Franken Decade

Kerry sent me an email this morning asking for money for both Russ and for Coons in Delaware.
I gave to both. (his links are to ActBlue as well) Nice to see sitting senators working to help these guys.

Shouldn’t the tag be “Hoot-Stuart Smalley?
September 15th, 2010 at 1:28 pm
Do it if you can, folks. This is going to be a tough win.
Wisconsin doesn’t know what it has in Russ.
September 15th, 2010 at 1:29 pm
I must say though, that the term “cheddarbomb” kind of creeps me out.
September 15th, 2010 at 1:31 pm
@fourlegsgood: It sounds like it should be deep fried and served with mustard and beer.
September 15th, 2010 at 1:36 pm
If you DO want to give to Feingold through ActBlue today, we Wisconsin bloggers have set up a page. Get to it here. Thanks John, for helping out!
September 15th, 2010 at 1:36 pm
It’s Wisconsin.
Should be Beer Bomb; or, Beer Bong (which is an Improvised Chugging Device), or ICD.
September 15th, 2010 at 1:36 pm
somebody ring the cheese alarm
September 15th, 2010 at 1:41 pm
@Sue: Some of us do. That doesn’t mean I’m not upset with him for weakening Wall Street reform but he does a good job and this year could be tough and his race is just one of four I’m worried about in my district. We lost Dave Obey my congressman, Mary Hubler my state representative, and Governor Jim Doyle this year and all those races are looking to be tough!

Hello Daddy, hello Mom
I’m your ch ch ch ch ch cheddar bomb

Look for the link to the dog/wolf hybrids that are loose. Can’t get a direct link for it…..
I was checking out the NH results from yesterday and saw the above. OMG. Head for the hills! Or the trees! Or Petsmart.
September 15th, 2010 at 1:45 pm
@R-Jud: Just what I was hearing in my head! :)
September 15th, 2010 at 1:49 pm
I donated this morning through ActBlue, but hate to miss out on anything called “cheddarbomb.” Is there a cheddarbomb page on Actblue?
September 15th, 2010 at 1:56 pm
@folkbum: Sorry, I missed this – you already did! That merits a second donation so I can get in on the cheddarbomb. I propose that we come up with amusing names for as many future moneybombs as possible. The only rule is that they have to have some actual relation to the geographic area or candidate.
September 15th, 2010 at 1:59 pm
@fourlegsgood: In honor of the quarterback the Pack killed this weekend, we could name it the Kolbe bomb. Fun fact: Colby Jack cheese was invented in Arena, WI.

@EL:
I nominate any fundraiser for California Dems as FuckedUpBeyondRepairAndYetStillProvidingAGrosslyDisproportionateShareOfFederalTaxesAndWingNutWelfareBomb.

Ayotte wins in NH.

@BGinCHI:
Here’s a direct link. They’re using frames, so you keep the same URL no matter how many links you click, unless you tell it to open the link in another window or tab. Or you can right click on the link and use the “copy link location” option.

FWIW:
Polls and predictions on the election:
http://www.electoral-vote.com/
I don’t know how wonderful this site is but at least it does not depend solely on Rasmussen.
It looks like they are predicting Continued-But-Smaller Democratic majorities.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:07 pm
@Comrade Colette Collaboratrice: I’m good with that, although I was really thinking of something a bit more concise. For instance, any Dem from Minnesota would get a NiceBomb. And I think Barbara Boxer should definitely have a bomb based on her name, but so far all I’ve come up with is a Powbomb.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:08 pm
@John Cole: Uh, what the fuck shouldn’t be deep fried and served with mustard and beer? I’m drawing a blank.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:09 pm
@Martin:
Durian. SATSQ.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:15 pm
I got a “cheddarbomb” e-mail from Chuck Schumer this morning. I’m doing what I can for my Congressman (Gary Peters – Mich. 9). Got my OFA Vote 2010 package a week and a half ago to which I promptly place my “this household supports President Obama” sign in our front window.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:21 pm
@Martin:
mustard and beer.
because that could lead to a disgusting infinite regression.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
@dave
You live somewhere near me except we lost Gary Sherman instead of Hubler. Sherman was an excellent State rep. and I am really sorry to see him go. He will make an excellent judge however.
I live in a 60-40 Dem. area and we had 65-35 Dem. results in our primary. How did your area do?
Russ Feingold is a great guy and an excellent Senator. He rarely deserts his principles for political expediency. That sometimes gets him in trouble with his own party but I will take him in a heartbeat over any politician I can think of. He answers every inquiry and comment that I direct his way , and even called me on the phone himself once. He is the diametric opposite of the Tea bag idiot he is against this year.

Rove slams O’Donnell’s and Palin’s slam of his original slam. There hasn’t been much talk of Peak Wingnut here recently, but this stuff keeps reminding me of the ‘Army of One’ commercials; everyone will be
blackwhitelisted out of the conservative movement until only Sarah Palin remains, tweeting to the cold void of space.September 15th, 2010 at 2:30 pm
@John Cole: EXACTLY
September 15th, 2010 at 2:30 pm
I know what we’ve got in Russ Feingold, that’s
why I voted for Ed Garvey yesterday. I may have been the only one.
And I might doit in November.
ActBlue, unless he decides to go his own way…. Again.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:33 pm
@EL: A BoxBomb?
September 15th, 2010 at 2:40 pm
@Roger Moore: Deep-fried durian with mustard sounds more like a chemical weapon than a food. Or like something that reality-show guy Joe Rogan—what was his show called, Fear Factor?—would have eaten.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:42 pm
@Martin:
Uni.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:49 pm
@p.a. #26: I have to admit, I’m giving him a polite golf clap for not backing down in the face of the caterwauling. On the other hand, though, it wasn’t Rush Limbaugh telling him to recant, so I guess he figures he can stick to his guns with impunity.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:52 pm
@Chris G.:
I like it! You are hereby encouraged to come with some more good bomb names.
September 15th, 2010 at 2:52 pm
@Amir_Khalid:
Oddly enough, I have talked to people about durian and Fear Factor before. We concluded that durian wouldn’t be a good choice for a show like that. The thing that’s disgusting about durian is the smell, which TV just can’t convey. The average American viewer would just see the contestants eating this strange looking but not obviously disgusting mystery food, which just isn’t good TV.

Donated as much as I can afford.

How about a cheddarbomb and a beer at Bong Recreational Area?

@EL: May not be the best choice for a female candidate, Just Saying.
September 15th, 2010 at 4:10 pm
I gave, but I did it because Glennzilla told me to, and he is Super Bad!
September 15th, 2010 at 4:14 pm
@Jackie: Hm, hadn’t thought of that. Good point.
September 15th, 2010 at 5:46 pm
You know, this post title just makes me want to have some cheesy poufs.
September 15th, 2010 at 5:51 pm
I gave. They had me at “cheddarbomb.”
September 16th, 2010 at 4:25 pm
Could you add Tom Barrett (running for governor of Wisconsin) to the ActBlue list?
He’s in a tight race and is a guy not afraid to step in the middle of a domestic abuse argument and take some hits to defend a mother and child.
And while I am asking Santa, how about Denish (running for governor of New Mexico); she’s up against a dirty campaign machine being run by Martinez.
Thanks.
