Beck & the TPers Come Out of the Closet
Dave Weigel, at Slate, has the nuptial notice:
After FreedomWorks partnered with Glenn Beck, some tea party activists rejoiced while others said it gave them pause…
No hard feelings! The last weekend of August, Americans for Prosperity, the other big tea party group which, unlike FreedomWorks, takes money from the Kochs, is hosting its final pre-election “Defending the American Dream Summit.” Among the goods you get by registering for the conference: “transportation to Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor event.” Both of the major, well-heeled tea party organizations are going to help bring people to Beck’s big rally on the national mall, which sort of suggests that the conservative debate over whether Beck is acceptable is over.
(For those playing the home game, the generous donors mentioned would be these Kochs. Murdoch may get the media attention, but Charles & David Koch have been funding the nastiest, lowest, most deceptive Wingnut Welfare Wurlitzers for more than a generation.)

As a fan of the music of both Rush and Beck, I hate these right wing assholes just a little bit more (though in this particular case the title made it obvious which Beck we were talking about)

NPR just had on a relatively hard hitting story about Fox News’ advocacy on behalf of the GOP. I am still in shock.

At one time I worked for AEI, around 1996-1997. I saw that there WAS a “right wing conspiracy” because it was funded by Scaife. It looks like we have another one.

@beltane: In other shocking news, Sean Hayes (Jack from Will & Grace) publicly declared he was gay a few months ago.

Like the TP designation. Could come in handy.

@beltane: I’ll reserve my shock for when NPR does a hard-hitting story on their own advocacy on behalf of the GOP.

@Maude: Assholes and TP go together like bread and butter.

@The Moar You Know: They may have been angry that Fox gets all the Gop’er love. Scorned lovers are notoriously pissy.

And of course there will be “2 million” there.

So does Fox own the GOP? Or does the GOP own Fox?
Now that it’s blatant, you think they’ll finally stop saying they’re fair and balanced?

Hey, I linked that “Defending the American Dream” summit thingie last night in an open thread. Best part is how they are trying to appeal to the kids:
Films by liberty-loving filmmakers! Now that’s just the kind of thing kids want to watch.
And Weigel is wrong. They don’t call it the “Restoring Honor” rally. They call it what it is:

I have only recently learned that David Koch was the founding moneybags for the Cato Institute.
Can’t say I’m shocked but why oh why does no one in the media EVER point out that the same three or four JR Ewing-style oil men are behind EVERY single major right wing message campaign?
Don’t answer that. It’s rhetorical.

More than a generation?
The elder Koch, the father, founded the John Birch Society. The sons funded Rove’s swift boatings and every anti-global-warming and repeal-social-security and Tea Party fringe group you can think of.

How does one defend an American dream summit? Armed guards?
