This Woman Makes Me Wish I Was a Lesbian

Manic progressives (I’m talking to you, Keith). Watch and learn:

I think I need a cigarette.

Of course, flaming Obama probably is good for poutrage fundraising.

I disagree with Maddow—not about the history, but about the substance. There’s a long history of this kind of propaganda, and it is always used to justify a mass murder. We’re seeing the beginnings of that: people going out to attack the ACLU and the Tides Foundation, a frequent topic of rants on Beck’s show.

I wish Maddow had reminded her viewers of the radio shows in Burundi, or in Serbia, or in other places where large genocides took place. This is what the right-wing thugs do when they can’t win legitimately—they create an “enemy”, and they dehumanize that enemy, and they, eventually, kill that enemy.

Misery of trolling around on an IPad: can’t watch most videos especially if they are Flash. So assuming it is Rachel meadow?

Maddow was just saying that it’s a political tactic, which it is. When they aren’t getting the results they want with the political tactic, their avid crazies take it to a whole new level.

It’s too bad that this eclipsed two important things that happened today:

    1. Obama signed the Wall Street reform bill.

    2. The Senate passed the unemployment extension.

You know, I have to give Michael Moore a lot of credit, for something most folks probably forgot, but it’s on the topic Maddow covered tonight.

In Bowling for Columbine, he spent probably a good 30 minutes of the film discussing how the media systematically creates a black bogeyman that America should be afraid of.

I wish I had a clip of that.

You think it was mere coincidence? I think not. The timing was deliberate. The target was never Sherrod, or the NAACP or the WH, or any of the others who got caught up in this. It was all about hijacking the MSM for a few days, to drown out any good news, to get the public focused on bullshit. Breitbart is a professional race baiter, and pros of his caliber always get the job done. Always.

They’re just afraid that in about 30 years they’ll be minorities as well, as almost every state in the country will have no racial / ethnic majority.

And so a new consensus forms: Only Obama has anything to be embarrassed about in this situation. Read the next installment of “Beyond Left and Right” at Huffington Post for details.

Maybe Obama would be willing to fight more if he didn’t have a bunch of fairweather-friend bastards backing him up. He is always left on an island by his putative allies.

Obama’s presidency is often like watching “McHale’s Navy,” with him playing straight man while surrounded by a bunch of bumbling idiots. But, come to think of it, maybe its more appropriate to compare him to Rudolph being stranded on the Island of Misfit Toys. I dunno, its late and all my analogies are belong to suck right now.

You got it. One of the nice things about Maddow’s piece is that she points out that the people pulling this stuff are not just racists, creeps or assholes.. they are pros.

Yeah, I was trying to find a word for straight-guy-crush-on-smart-lesbian, but it made my brain hurt.

She is spot on with her analysis, that the real story here is the breathless rush to embrace the “white oppression” meme that get endlessly pushed on Wingnuttia media.

It would be laughably silly except I noticed that was the exact strategy used by the Serbs in the Balkans, and the Hutus/ Tutsis in Rwanda, to justify their ethnic rage and slaughter.

This is vile stuff, the underlying fear and rage boiling in the Tea Party crowd.

  27. Joe Buck - July 22, 2010 | 12:41 am · Link

@Hunter Gathers: the target most emphatically was the NAACP. A few days ago, the NAACP called out the Tea Party for the racism in its ranks, and the wingnuts went crazy. Breitbart tried to do to the NAACP what he did to ACORN.

Is it just me, or is Laurence O’Donnell like the physical embodiment of the Huffington Post? They’re generally on the side of the angels but then every once in a while they spin off into accusations or innuendoes. And he’s picked up the Olbermann habit of asking questions that unwind for a long time until they’re likely to be longer than the interviewee’s responses. I don’t think I’ll be watching his MSNBC show.

Sorry, but that goes beyond hyperbole. I’ve viewed and read a lot of responses today to this story and none that I came across said anything remotely like “only Obama has anything to be embarrassed about.”

I believe your so-called consensus is imaginary. While the administration certainly has egg on its face from its response to Breitbart’s latest (and Gibbs seems to have accepted that the WH deserves criticism), the real consensus seems to be that the only one who comes out of this smelling like a rose is Ms. Sherrod herself. Breitbart, the media generally, FoxNews specifically, the White House, and Vilsack all look bad. Actually, in all the things I’ve read, Obama has been either a minor character or subsumed under the “White House,” which can mean a number of things from Obama himself, to the administration, to White House staff, etc. As much as you may want to believe it, I really don’t think Obama is a victim here.

Rachel has some experience with leaving out context.
Rachel Maddow is a Dishonest Hack part 3

Rachel Maddow repeated her ACORN deception from April 6, 2010 and dishonestly “edited” the CA AG report again to make it look like Vera reported O’Keefe and Giles to the police immediately instead of 9 Days later.
