    A Pair Of Brown Eyes

    A Rainy Night In Soho

    How ‘bout those Gonzaga Bulldogs

They’re probably going to run into a buzz saw on Sunday against Syracuse, but that’s not for two days. Right now, the victory feels real good.

@Comrade Luke: Heh. One of my co-workers will be insufferable come Sunday. Having said that, GO ZAGS!!

Away from home this weekend and internet access intermittent, so I just want to take this opportunity to wish all of you good luck for tomorrow. I have more than just my fingers crossed for a safe, non-Stupacked HCR vote.

@Comrade Luke: WCC, Baby! Two entries, two victories!

@Yutsano: We had seven first-year players this year, yet we still won the regular season conference title and won at least one game in the tourney.

I’d love to pull it off on Sunday, but at this point anything else is gravy.

  11. Yutsano - March 20, 2010 | 2:11 am · Link

@Tattoosydney: We thank thee for the wellwish FH # 1, however the vote is scheduled for Sunday. So one more day of nonsensical politicking before the final vote occurs. I wish it was over tomorrow, I want to get the entire mishegas out of the way.

So where did you two sneak off to? Please don’t say Alice Springs.

@Comrade Luke: I want brackets broken and much rendering of garments to occur as much as possible this time of year. No school should EVER assume their team is a lock to win it all.

    WCC REPRESENT!

I really think St Mary’s can beat Villanova tomorrow. They’re playing out of their skulls right now, and ‘Nova…isn’t.

In terms of Evidence of things not seen, we all missed the mythic moment of the equinox. But it doesn’t matter, you can still balance an egg on its end anyways, contra Aaron Sorkin. I’ll let Phil Plait, Ph. D. explain.

    Re Stupak,

We caught you on the wrong side of lying,
within the dust we left you dying, if only words can keep you hiding.
Well go on, cowards we’ve offed you, cowards we’ve offed you.
    ...
    I hope your life’s a living hell.
It’s all on you, boy. It’s all on you, boy.

Er, no, we didn’t. It’s not for another 11 hours.

But I’m reminded that I always forget about Bloomsday until the end of the day on June 16 and kick myself for missing it.

“It is regrettable that this event unfolded as it did and that offence was caused to our membership.”

That’s the saddest thing I’ve read since the article about how Lindsey Graham’s fee fees were hurt.

It was warm here today, but I still don’t quite believe there will be a spring.

I saw tiny buds on a tree today, but I still don’t quite believe there will be a spring.

I have choral parts to learn for Easter, but I still don’t quite believe there will be a spring.

It’s been so damn cold for so damn long, I still can’t quite believe there will be a spring.

Woot-woot! I moved up sixty-plus spots in the BJ tourney pool today! I feel pretty damn good about it.

Love this vid, Anne Laurie. Thanks for posting it.
@Tattoosydney: FH#1 emerges from hiding! Hiya.

@Yutsano: I went with the state school today (U of M), otherwise, I would have done even better.

The high temperature where I live was 82 today. Especially weird, when we had temperatures in the low 50’s, with rain, and snow in the hills, just a week ago.

Jesus. I’d forgotten the time difference. Agh.

We are in Melbourne. Bradley has a public health conference next week so we took the opportunity to fly down early – shopping today, off to a great Spanish restaurant tonight, then I am flying back to Sydney Sunday night after a late lunch.

    @JGabriel:

and kick myself for missing it.

Wednesday night, I was over at my parents’ house North of the city where you can see a lot more stars, and my dad just happened to announced that the ISS would be passing right over at 9:07 local time, sure enough we’re standing outside at 9:06, and I’m pointing out constellations, planets and nebulae to my niece and my cousins. Orion, Draco, Venus, Cassiopeia, Mars, and all of the sudden we see a new star to the Northwest. I can tell just by the naked eye that it is ascending rapidly above the horizon. My dad says it’s a police helicopter, as the airstrip that they operate out of is about a mile west of their house, and it could’ve easily been that. The illusion holds until we see the light pretty much streaking over our heads at an impossible rate, and then POOF! it’s gone, disappeared out of the sunlight over into the Earth’s shadow.

    That was pretty fucking cool.

Watching Maddow: John Ensign is so truly screwed. I can’t believe he’s still a sitting Senator. IOKIYAR. Possibly not this time. I personally hope he ends up in the clink for this.

@Comrade Kevin: There’s this “series of tubes” that has a stream of the program. I don’t own a TV, so thankfully I miss the Sat./Sun. MSNBC lockup/crime wave marathons.

@Comrade Kevin: LOL. Hey, anytime I can make a veiled Ted Stevens reference, I go for it. Insomnia is a bad mistress.

BTW, I am so loving the CBS sports March Madness streaming program. They are doing it right, unlike NBC with their dick Internet streaming of the Olympics, or generally any pro sports league.

ETA: You know how you can tell Spring Break is over in a college town? People banging on people’s apartment doors across the hall at 3 a.m. in the f**king morning!

If Hamsher is to be believed, the HCR bill just got a whole lot uglier.

  40. demo woman - March 20, 2010 | 8:26 am · Link

@dr. bloor: I’m taking a wait and see approach. If it is a separate amendment, there is a chance that it won’t pass the Senate even though the Senate needs 51 votes.

    @demo woman:

I reckon. I’m long past the capacity of keeping track of the procedural elements involved in this thing; I can’t tell if Barty has real leverage here, or if this is a Rube Goldberg scheme for letting him save face.

My first thought wakingup today? Stupak.

Is it ok to drink at 8:30 am?

  43. valdivia - March 20, 2010 | 8:51 am · Link

maybe this is from earlier than the whole to do began but here is this from abc re Stupak. Cohn and Chait at TNR had talked about a vote affirming Hyde being the solution earlier in the week I don’t know if what Stupak is suggesting is the same thing. If it is according to them and contra Hamsher it is a good solution since Hyde is already the law. As Dengre said in the previous thread we have to fight against that law but it does not make this bill worse since it already had to comply with Hyde.
