The answer to DougJ’s question is simple– the people who read Kaus are Republicans who can cite his union bashing, anti-immigrant and other right-wing views and say “even the liberal Mickey Kaus.”
That is his only purpose. He’s a one man New Republic. Expect his candidacy to be used to portray Boxer as an extreme leftist by DeVore.
It really is that simple.
BTW- I’ve decided I’m not running for Congress, so I expect to have a NY Times editorial any day now.

Breitbart is in meltdown mode.
Enjoy….

Oh, yeah, and on his Big Government site one of his boys, Zak, compares ACORN to the Ku Klux Klan. You can taunt him as a guest – no need to register.

@Pasquinade: I had no idea people argued back and forth that much via Twitter. I guess that’s why I dont tweet.
FormerSwingVoter
Like how we used to read you ranting about Bush and the Schiavo mess and everything else, then say “even the conservative John Cole”?
Bill E Pilgrim
Need a short reference name for all of the “Even the X” entities out there (Mickey Kaus, TNR, Camille Paglia, and the Washington Post)
E.T.?
Straw Liberals?
John Cole
@Pasquinade: What is he freaking about today? He is always so manic I can never follow him.
eric
How does kaus think he is going to raise MILLIONS of dollars to beat Boxer and her war chest? Seriously. Vanity thy name is Kaus.
John Cole
@FormerSwingVoter: Except, you know, I was actually changing positions due to events. Kaus has always had those opinions.
GregB
BlartBlart is in meltdown over the ongoing O’Keefe saga. It’s a conspiracy by Soros, Podesta and Max Blumenthal dontcha know?
Breitbart is making Orly Taitz look fair and mentally balanced.
Mudge
I was hoping you would run against Mollohan..I am crushed..

@GregB:
Just release the unedited tape. The Brooklyn DA got them. They exist.
Then he’ll be credible again. Allegedly :)

@John Cole
Breitbart is freaking over ACORN…and running battles with BradBlog and Eric Boehlert
Here Andrew is referring to Mike Stark’s video of him at CPAC:

John PM
Please run for Congress. I am in for $100 if you run against Rockefeller! Plus, I will also come to West Virginia and walk Lily while you are on the campaign trail.

@Pasquinade: Didn’t Michelle Malkin write a book called “Unhinged”, a diatribe against certain people on the Internets who opposed the Iraq war and failed to see the manly manliness of W.

I have found myself infuriated by TNR many times over the years, but to compare their output to Kaus is ridiculous. The writers at TNR, even when they’re wrong (read: I disagree with them), seem to me engaged in honest intellectual discourse* and serious, well-reasoned argument. Mickey Kaus is a vapid, superficial twat flinging poo at the wall and calling it commentary.
(*Excluding Peretz, Kirchick, and whoever is writing about Israel on any particular day.)
Howlin Wolfe
@Pasquinade: Thanks, but no thanks. I dipped my toe in that cesspool, but I’ll stay in the boat.

Brietbart must have to mainline his heart meds…
Punchy
Sexist and oldist. How dare you mention her aged, likely scarred boobs!
However, you did say “beat box”, which has now flooded my brain with images of the Fat Boys.
Comrade Kevin
@Pasquinade:
When I see someone doing something like that, I wonder if part of their goal is to rehabilitate an organization like the Klan.
cat48
John, are you going to blame the Democrat party (Chicago thug) bosses too? If not, who?
The Grand Panjandrum
Tunch threatening to air the dirty laundry if you had decided to run?
John
That’s about right, although Kirchick’s gone, isn’t he? At any rate, I like Chait and Cohn a lot, at least when Chait’s not blathering about Israel.
BTW, for insanity nothing beats the titles of Marty Peretz posts. I never read his actual blog, but when reading other TNR blogs, there’s that sidebar that shows recent posts on all the other blogs. Peretz’s seem to correspond to some secret world that only he understands.

John, would love for you to run in WV-02 against Shelley Moore Capito. Just saying, is all.

It would be a treat to see Tunch prowl the halls of Congress, shitting on Blue Dog & GOP desks alike.

I think you’ve gotten a bit ahead of yourself, John. Devore is amusing, but he has some work to do in order to become relevant. Even if (when?) Fiorina self-destructs, Campbell will still be around.
And for pure entertainment value, it’s hard to imagine how anything could top Jerry Brown running for Gov again. Unless the teabagger candidate beats both Goodhair and Kay Bailey in the Texas primary today. Man, Molly Ivins should have lived long enough to cover this campaign.

Tunch for Congress! White Cat better than a Blue Dog

Birthers, the way our courts work is that you get a competent lawyer, verifiable facts and present them to a judge, if the facts are real and not half baked lies, then, and only then, do you proceed to trial. The Birthers seem to be having a problem with their so called “facts” that I keep reading about on the internetnt. Let’s face it no one will take you seriously until you guys win a case, but until then, you will continue to appear dumb, crazy or racist, or maybe all three. Keep plucking that chicken.
Comrade Kevin
Who needs “facts” when you have a conspiracy theory, where a lack of “facts” just means that the “cover up” is working?

That is his only purpose.
That and being the most experienced goat-blower on the planet.
When goats see him coming they start bleating for joy, or something.

That’s too bad, John, because we were all looking forward to Nancy Pelosi whipping you into line now and then.
