    Does the host have the presence of mind to ask if he’s being paid by anyone? I really don’t have to ask., of course.

    No doubt, someone is paying him to provide his opinion.

    Is Harold still with MSNBC? I thought they suspended him while he explores his Senate candidacy.

    ....really, MSNBC? This is the guy you turn to? Someone proven to be scandal ridden and willing to whore himself out to say anything long as the dollars were enough?

    Christ.

    OK. So far, this health care summit is going nowhere. Republicans can’t manage to read a bill. It’s too hard for them. Their teeny weeny wittle minds are too small to deal with the scope of the problem. How many times do we have to hear the same old story?

    This is why online streams are so valuable. No talking windbags, except for the elected ones.

    Cece Connelly? ARRRRRGH! And Armstrong Williams? Did the Fox gravy train get derailed this morning?

  16. flyerhawk - February 25, 2010 | 11:32 am · Link

    Fox is letting the congresscritters talk without overlay commentary.

    Who needs to listen to pundits make predictions on something that hasn’t finished yet.

    Why? If you’re getting paid to confuse people, it’s much easier if you are confused. Besides, it’s not lying if you have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about.

  19. JenJen - February 25, 2010 | 11:33 am · Link

    Armstrong Williams just now: “The Democrats are not as well-spoken as the Republicans are.”

    Oh, dear. And then he said “I am actually shocked, and I don’t think I’m in the minority, that the President remains quite arrogant, and wanted to be the first President after seven to be the first to put health care into law.”

    ETA: Best tweet I’ve seen so far:

    “McCain thinks the movie sucks on this flight.”

    Ezra just tweeted:

    A deal that all Americans could support: Democrats pass health-care reform and, in exchange, stop talking about health-care reform.

    No joke.

    I can’t imagine who would have booked Armstrong Williams. Some young new-hire who spent the last 5 years in a brain dead coma. Doesn’t anyone at MSNBC read a newspaper? The level of discussion on Shuster’s program is moronic.
    I’m watching Fox News because they’re not interrupting with what the geniuses at msnbc must think as liveblogging in order to appeal to people who can’t remember if they’re watching on TV or the internet.

  26. Kryptik - February 25, 2010 | 11:55 am · Link

    @fraught:

    It’s kinda bad when the supposed ‘liberal’ channel is worse at talking over things like this, especially when they seem to be going bad for the GOP, than Fox News is.

    Of course, it won’t exactly save them from being considered the channel of Marxists. Not that it ever keeps the ‘liberal media’ from trying though.

    Uppity!

    And if I may repeat myself, we need a “your liberal media at work” tag.

  28. Nellcote - February 25, 2010 | 12:14 pm · Link

    It seems that the goopers haven’t actually read either of the passed bills as they keep asking for things that are already in the bills! And why in the fuc* is McCain there?

  29. batgirl - February 25, 2010 | 12:17 pm · Link

    I have a fascinating idea. Why not have someone who knows something about health care reform do commentary, like say, um, a health care economist or something. Is this too much to ask from our so-called news today? Instead, they cover this like it is a football game. Fuck. Them. All.

  30. Zuzu's Petals - February 25, 2010 | 12:32 pm · Link

    Bit of a put-down of McCain on Obama’s part. Yes Grandpa is insufferable, but I’m pretty sure the chattering class will start harping on Obama’s “snippiness” in telling people to lay off the talking points.

    Obama to McCain: “We’re not campaigning anymore, John. The election’s over.” OH SNAP

    I like that Obama. I would like to see more of that Obama.

  34. fraught - February 25, 2010 | 12:43 pm · Link

    John McCain is on now. Still thinking he’s in the campaign and someone told him this is the fourth debate and he can win if he does well. Just shut off the President of the United States curtly, “Can I just finish?” when Obama tried to interject. McC seemed to think BO is a busboy at this banquet being held in his honor, snaps back at Obama when he reminds the poor old fool that “the election is over.”
    Such a pissed off response which shows how humiliated he was by losing and not being able to sit at the head of the table and having to run for re-election for a crummy senate seat instead of living in the White House with Michelle Obama uh… what’shername.

    This isn’t the first time Armstrong Williams has been on MSNBC. Chris Matthews has had him on at least twice that I know of.

  36. fraught - February 25, 2010 | 12:47 pm · Link

    @Zuzu’s Petals: With all due respect, that is a perfect example of a “concern troll” comment.

  37. JenJen - February 25, 2010 | 1:15 pm · Link

    @Zuzu’s Petals: Mike Pence carried the mantle, suggesting the President is being “condescending” right before the lunch recess.

    You know they would have called him “condescending” whether that exchange with McCain happened or not, right?

  38. Zuzu's Petals - February 25, 2010 | 1:37 pm · Link

    @fraught:

    Well I’m glad you said that “with all due respect,” otherwise I’d think you were just being obnoxious.

    @JenJen:

    Yes on both counts.

  40. Zuzu's Petals - February 25, 2010 | 1:41 pm · Link

    Sort of stunning how little substance McCain brought to his remarks. Reminds me of the description of him sitting through the TARP summit in near silence and then resorting to index card talking points.

    Did we dodge a bullet or what.

    I’m waiting for the day when someone has the balls to introduce Armstrong Williams as “Closet case, GOP bagman and professional negro Armstrong Williams”.
