24 Oz. of Stone’s Ruination IPA better be enough to get me through this. David Gregory’s blathering is not making me too optimistic about my prospects, though.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Declaring “I don’t quit,’” an embattled President Barack Obama vowed in his first State of the Union address Wednesday night to make job growth his topmost priority for the year and urged a divided Congress to come together around new stimulus spending and short-term economic relief. He said he would still pursue ambitious longer-term changes to health care, energy, education and beyond.
“Change has not come fast enough,” Obama said before a politician-packed House chamber and a TV audience of millions. “I do not accept second-place for the United States of America. As hard as it may be, as uncomfortable and contentious as the debates may be, it’s time to get serious about fixing the problems that are hampering our growth.”

After nearly missing The Wire by stopping 3-4 eps into it the first time, I now give shows the entire first Season. I gave chuck the entire first season, and it blew donkeys. It blew donkies aggressively. The Baldwin guy wanting to cavalierly and pointlessly kill the blonde agent? That’s the most nonsensical writing I’ve ever seen. And the theme song by Cake, whose vocals are the worst ever recorded and digitized…Don’t even get me started on the pseudo-weirdo Indian Guy and Bald Guy comedy duo’.
While Scrubs was a geek comedy by geeks, Chuck is just Geeksploitation. The first season at least. Maybe the second season is better.

I almost threw up a little when CNN described their panel of ordinary citizens as scientifically selected as an equal amount of Democrats, Republicans and Independents – as if that’s what America is made out of.
There’s probably nothing more damaging to American political discourse than this pernicious myth of the center/balance/independents as “what Americans want”. Argh.
Well, besides the idea that the GOP is a legitimate political party and not a bunch of maniacal religious zealots who have no interest in governing and no grasp of the facts.

This is exactly the kind of “judicial activism” conservatives are always railing against. Believe me, I understand that sometimes the law means things aren’t the way I want them to be, or that gun control laws might be unconstitutional if taken too far, etc.
But this idea that corporations are exactly like people when it comes to giving them rights, but entirely unlike people when it comes to punishing, taxing or otherwise controlling them is FUCKING RIDICULOUS. And it will destroy our country if it’s not stopped.

@Anne Laurie:
Yeah, between Pelosi and Roberts its easy to see which one acts worse than a frightened old woman (no offense meant to you frightened old women out there), and the name is NOT “Nancy”.
It’s just sickening how many partisan, Republican-owned little bitches there are in the SCOTUS.

@Martin:
But where does that leave Clarence Thomas? Hmmm, on second thought I don’t want to know.

Didn’t see one second of it.
Did I really miss anything important? Laying -140 on the “no”.

@Notorious P.A.T.:
Making a note of that. Thanks for the recco.
I’m in a better mood now. Florida State made a game of it for a while, and some will continue to whine that we rely too much on Scheyer, Singler, and Smith. But a win is a win is a win. I’m ready to listen to SOTU now.

@Sanka:
Mark the occasion, ladies and gentlemen.
At 10:29 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, on January 27, 2010, Sanka said something that makes sense.
This happens even less often than the appearance of Halley’s Comet, or the New York Rangers winning the Stanley Cup.
But you can say to your grandkids, “Yes, you little buttfaces, I was there the one time that Sanka made sense.”

Fuck you GOP. The next time any of you punks tell me that liberal judges are “activist” go fuck yourself. Alito’s disdainful mouthing proves these fuckers lied to get appointed and they are only interested in giving their masters every judgement they ask for.
Fuck off and I hope the term “liberal activist judges” dies and is replaced by “scum sucking, corporate liar activist judges”

@Sanka:
Uhhhh, the constitution and bill of rights SAYS WE THE PEOPLE, not ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY CORPORATIONS.
Sorry, last I checked the founding fathers were talking about actual people not fictional entities.
I know it’s hard for your bootlicking beliefs to let down your guard and accept the truth, but if you want shove your talking points at anybody, I suggest you run along and go play with the dittoheads. You guys can all circle jerk each other by acting idiotic.

Hilarious.
