Cross-Cultural… Misinterpretations

I don’t know why Erick Erickson hasn’t already announced a fund-raising drive to bring this… unusual… artwork celebrating President Obama’s visit to China back to a venue where it can really be appreciated…

Perhaps the Red State Strike Farce simply can’t decide who’ll get custody. Or possibly $15k is some $14,913 $14,999,913 more than Red Erick’s Army can scrape together?

(I really liked the YouTube video “Obama Marketing Hits China“, but Reuters has chosen to disable video embedding.)

I dunno, maybe I’m just sick and twisted like that, but I think it’s kinda neat. And the fact that no matter what happens Obama never burns prolly rankles Erick et al to no end.

So on their own, they could only raise negative fifteen million dollars? Man, I have a bridge I’d like to sell those guys.

Why do I think the Oba Mao merchandize was exported from Alabama to China?

    @Martin:

Heh. Wait til he tours Latin America and they have the Che Obama shirts and posters.

I suspect the Red Staters would complain that it needs some timber.

It’s too bad there wasn’t an equally inappropriate artwork presented in Japan. It would have been fun hearing Cokie try to explain the panties and tentacles.

@Jon H: No problem. She’ll just explain that Obama is the Chōjin.

    The artist said:

    “He’s so hot right now….”

Just wait til this Texas artist takes a whack at Obama:

Obama’s Burning Man outfit there makes him look a little like Bruce Willis…

That’s Obama? Looks more like Jor-El.

Just in time, just like the last time Republicans lost the Preznitzy, the anti-government militia movement is back.

Some members of local veterans groups who attended an “Every Day is Veterans Day” ceremony Nov. 8 in Berwick, Maine, said they were surprised to find it was a kickoff for a new Maine affiliate of the national Oath Keepers organization, which has been described as part of a rebirth of the nation’s right-wing militia movement… Watts urged attendees to be wary of politicians, calling them “bullies.” He told the audience the country is at war on the domestic front with its government and described America’s leaders as being no better than Somali warlords. He said he wasn’t urging the audience to act violently against public officials, but asked them to get involved in politics so the Constitution is defended. He also talked about “revolution.” “A ballot is a bullet … we need to take this country back,” he said.

And they’ll play the same word games being careful to make sure their followers just off the stage get the right message.

Anyone who thinks jackasses like these give a flying shit about the Constitution outside their version of the 2nd Amendment, there is an important update from The Onion.

I was thinking more the Human Torch, but I’d better not say anything or the wingnuts will start trying to prove that Obama was actually made in a lab. That being said, after reading Roy Edroso’s round-up of Bowgate, I wouldn’t be surprised if a solid chunk of them already think that.

If that were Bush, they’d be calling it an act of war.

The original, certainly, but definitely not Johnny Storm.

This is a nice visual complement to Obama-as-Anti-Christ rhetoric.

Personally, my favorite thing at the moment is the way the wingnuts are all obsessed about Presidential and diplomatic etiquette. Where were they when Bush Jr. was sexually harassing the German Chancellor?

They art to commemorate this president? Why didn’t they just go with this?

(I really need to get me one of those))

Actually, the Chia-Obama would fit in really well with these guys.

    Jake Tapper has that covered:

Obama’s handshake/forward lurch was so jarring and inappropriate it recalls Bush’s back-rub of Merkel.

So it’s just the same as Bush’s inappropriate touching, see?

God, “take this country back”. Can’t they get it through their thick skulls that THEY LOST. WE WON.
    Get over it.

They didn’t bite at this statue; they are waiting for Dick Armey to commission the flaming statue of Barney Frank to get really excited.

  25. Bruce Webb - November 16, 2009 | 2:04 pm · Link

    @Liberty60:

    A flaming Barney?

I can hear a laughing Rep. Frank all the way out here on the West Coast.

(Though the thought of Dick Armey getting aroused should disturb any right thinking human.)

Love it, even if it doesn’t really look like him.
