The Fort Stanwix Tea Party Patriots

This may be the greatest Meetup page ever. Check out the topics: Glenn Beck, 9/12, We Surround Them, Tea Party, Liberty. It’s for the group that went nuts on Steny Hoyer today in Rome, NY.

I also think that Tea Party Patriots would be a good name for a band.

Update. Here’s a directory of all 9/12, We Surround Them, Tea Party, Liberty meetup groups. Somewhat terrifyingly, my local one has 560 members.

Sorry to go OT before we got on topic, but the Clenis shows up in Pyongyang, and bang. That Kim Jong Il is just a big kid- all he wants is a little attention.

Jeezuz Chryslers who does the designs on wingnut webpages? Why are they all such shitty layouts? Do these people have no idea on how to execute a decent visual presentation?

They’re going to use their constitutional rights to “effect elections?” Ok, sure.

If we are thinking about the rules for the tit for tat game described before on another thread, using these tea baggers is an escalation that will require a similar response from team Obama. Will be interesting to see what the punishment will be for this…(See wikepedia – the prisoner’s dilemma and Axelrod’s research in this area)..

I suspect that team Obama has a response ready to go…

If you want to have some real fun, I invite you to compare these maps with those from Huffpo’s fundrace. One of the ones I see in my area is glaringly close to someone who gave $4700 to—brace yourself—Ron Paul. I know, shocker, right?

What the hell… we have two of them up here, totalling 84 members. There are only 140,000 people here! That’s 12 times the concentration of crazy you have, Doug.

Also, from the meetup page, Billie Stan sez:

“ Because it’s fun, patriot, and the more hands the merrier. In this time of great unrest, how can we do anything less. If no one stands up, we all fall. ”

    America is so patriot!

Somewhat OT, but what’s the point of the “9/12” teaparty?

Due to my personal experience on 9/11, I get a tad pissed when I see things like this for political or personal gain, to say the least. This just smacks of grandstanding and it irks me to no end.

Either that, or it’s just terrible marketing. Or maybe its both. Or maybe I’m just way out in left-field on this one.

Here is link on Axelrod’s game theory based work on cooperation
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T.....ooperation

There will be a retaliation for this escalation—
The tea baggers are not a true grass roots reaction but a manufactured distraction where the insurance industry and their minions in the media and Republican party are using the emotions from racism and culture wars to make the appearance of opposition to health care reform. Its a ploy to manipulate these poor dupes and other dupes in the national audience to believe that there is rank opposition to health care change, when its really just more of the same emotional opposition to general change implicit in Obama’s election funneled into this issue.

The poor and blue collar white undereducated, scare mark being played again…

It would seem to me that hosting an event that is designed to incite people to violence, probably violates meetup.com’s Terms Of Service:

5.3 Grounds for Removal, Sanction and/or Suspension.
    ...
    (b) Posting any Public Information or other material:
    ...
    (i) that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, intimidating, vulgar, obscene, profane, libelous, invasive of another’s privacy (including the posting of private emails or contact information about another individual), hateful, or racially, ethically or otherwise objectionable, including any Public Information or other material that may be considered hate speech;

What do you think the odds are of meetup.com banning any of these groups?

There is a post on DKOS today explaining how a group in Indiana was able to sill have their townhall meeting with Rep. Pete Visclosky (D, IN-01) on Monday without the crazies taking control.
    http://www.dailykos.com/story/.....ons-shared.

The only thing I would add is Dems running these townhalls need to limit the folks inside to only the people who are actually represented by the speaker. I bet there would be a lot less shouting if they just cut out the operatives who are bussed in.

Steny Hoyer? That douchebag? I say let ‘em hassle him, that way he can see what nutcase radicals really look like in this country and leave all us unserious DFHs alone.

I like how they have to explicitly say they are “non-violent” in the first line. Cuz you know a lot of them would like to get violent so i guess they need to find another meetup.

Actually, you’d be surprised how many keyboard commandos like to LARP or play paintball on their weekends.

Make ‘em feel an manly and such, and carries less hazard than actualy going Over There to fight for their country.

They’re mostly crazy, angry rude people—if they’re exposed to be as much it’ll backfire.

Yes, we are all worried that the MSM will portray them as part of some greater uprising against healthcare reform, however, since everyone is already talking about how they are part of a orchestrated “campaign” to disrupt townhall meetings (as was just characterized on NPR) then we have a very good chance of turning their craziness against them. Mostly what we need is to show up to these meetings with video cameras/cellphone cameras/etc. Get them on tape screaming that health care reform makes Obama just like a nazi—don’t be afraid to ask them questions about their medicare, medicaid or social security disability benefits. Oh, and by all means, ask them about Obama’s birth certificate, they won’t be able to help themselves.

These are Palin’s biggest supporters, these are people who idolize Glenn Beck for fart’s sake—they’re not the brightest and can be outmanuvered. It’s just going to take a little work and some confidence that we can do it.

These protestors are completely IGNORANT. The Bush tax cuts are still in place until 2011, unless Obama repeals them! Do they even KNOW that?

These otherwise decent people are being LIED to by organizations and conservative talk radio. Insurance lobbyists are actually USING these decent people by urging them to go out and disrupt town hall meetings. How blind are these guys?!?

And where is the media to tell the truth about it?!?

where is the proof that these people are being manipulated by corporations or politicians.I haven’t seen any evidence.I think these people are upset over the facts. If they are victims of misinformation why can’t these politicians set them straight, that is why they hold these meetings in the first place.
