Boycott Pep Boys

I can’t believe this happened:

Automotive supply chain Pep Boys fired a Tucson store manager because his military Reserve duties took him away from work, according to a federal lawsuit filed here.
It may not be an isolated case. Several other reservists fired from Pep Boys in Tucson and Pennsylvania have contacted a military advocacy group with similar complaints.

    I’m reminded of…

My dad moved from the North to Washington, DC in 1950. DC was then a Jim Crow city, and I asked him if it hadn’t bothered him. He said once: when he was eating in a Hot Shoppes restaurant (that was the first Marriott chain, like Denny’s but nicer) and they turned away a black customer in military uniform. This was during the Korean War.

What I find most telling about the story is that my dad was an opponent of and a conscientious objector from that war.

Pep Boys should be ashamed, and their lawyers will set them straight.
